How to care for…

Opera Calf

Luminous and silky to the touch, Delvaux's Opera Calf is a full grain calfskin, with a slight cross-grain effect.

Your Delvaux is made from the highest quality Opera Calf leather sourced from France. It has been selected and crafted with the greatest care by our master craftsmen in our workshops in Belgium and France.

We recommend taking the following steps to preserve the timeless beauty of your leather:

  • First of all, if your Delvaux should be damaged in any way, please take it to one of our boutiques or contact our customer support.

  • Store your Delvaux in its original dustbag and stuff it with tissue paper to preserve its shape.

  • Take care not to overfill your Delvaux as this could permanently damage its shape.

  • Avoid all contact with oil, grease, perfume and cosmetics.

  • If the leather gets wet, gently dab dry with a soft, clean cloth to avoid staining.

  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat, to avoid any fading or discoloration.

  • Avoid contact of dark-coloured clothing against light-coloured leathers and dark-coloured leather against light-coloured garments, as dye transfer could occur.

  • The metal hardware will develop a patina over time. Any metal pieces can be cleaned by gently rubbing with a soft, dry, non-abrasive cloth.

  • To ensure your leather remains nourished and protected, we recommend using Delvaux’s ‘First Care’ range. Do not use the 'First Care' range on embroideries.

How to use Delvaux’s ‘First Care’ range:

Please follow the instructions and video below carefully:

1. Begin by spreading a small amount of cleaning lotion on the cloth provided and rub it into the bottom of your bag.

2. Leave the lotion for ten minutes, then wipe clean with a cloth.

3. Continue rubbing the lotion over the rest of the leather, making sure to avoid the bag’s interior. Use sweeping, circular movements to ensure the lotion is evenly distributed across the bag’s exterior.

4. Leave for ten minutes, then again, wipe with a clean cloth. Go over any areas where the lotion has not been fully absorbed.

5. Restore shine by buffing the leather with the glove provided, or using a very soft cloth. Leave to dry for 30-60 minutes.

6. To finish, use the cloth dedicated to the accessory. Shake it before use to remove any dust and then gently rub your accessory with the clean cloth.
